- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪I was seen at the emergency room,which makes it easier for a lot of people who live on the east side of the island than having to fight traffic to drive to Lihue. Unbeknownst to me, they are able to care for patients needing extending care in a hospital setting. Usually reserved for assisted care, they do have a few private and/or semi private rooms. I had to be admitted. I was given the choice to go to a larger hospital in Lihue, but chose to stay. In the five days I had to be hospitalized, I received excellent care from friendly and knowledgeable staff who were willing to go the extra mile to make sure I felt at ease.January 03, 2017by Jan Nay
